Trust is not built on promises — it is earned through performance, consistency and responsibility.
KAMAT is an independent, family-owned manufacturer of high-pressure pumps and systems, based in Witten, Germany, and founded in 1974. For more than 50 years we have developed, built and tested this technology entirely in Germany — at pressures up to 4,000 bar and drive power up to 3,000 kW. Customers in energy, mining, steel, the process industries, marine and industrial cleaning rely on KAMAT in more than 100 countries.
Our performance lives in the engineering, our consistency in our quality, our responsibility in acting sustainably and with integrity. What certificates require is second nature to us — so we gladly put it to the test. See for yourself.

Made in Germany — engineered, built and tested in Witten
Every KAMAT pump is engineered, manufactured, assembled and tested at our headquarters in Witten, Germany — with 100 % in-house production. By keeping development, production, quality assurance and service under one roof, we keep full control over every stage. The result for you: consistent quality, complete traceability of every component, and a single point of accountability.
For our customers, Made in Germany means more than origin — it means precision engineering, strict standards and dependable long-term performance. We also source our raw materials regionally, keeping supply routes short and the supply chain transparent. More about our history and our people on the Company Profile page.

Certified Quality — ISO 9001
Every pump and system is designed for continuous operation under demanding conditions and undergoes extensive testing before it leaves our factory. Our quality management system has been certified to ISO 9001 — one of the world’s most recognised standards — since 1996, three decades of audited, consistent quality.
For you, that certification is a risk reduction, not a logo:
- Consistent, repeatable manufacturing — the pump you order behaves like the one you qualified
- Documented, transparent procedures and full traceability
- A continuous-improvement process audited by an independent body
- Predictable, reliable product performance over the long term

Sustainability, Independently Verified — ZNU
Sustainability is part of our corporate strategy, not an add-on. Since 2025, KAMAT has been certified to the ZNU Standard “Sustainable Business Practices” — as the first mechanical-engineering company to hold this certification.
For customers outside Germany, here is what that standard means: it was developed at the Centre for Sustainable Corporate Management (ZNU) of Witten/Herdecke University and has been independently certifiable since 2012, covering environmental, social and economic responsibility together — by ZNU’s own account the world’s first holistic, externally certifiable sustainability standard now also under state oversight. Around 150 organisations across Germany hold it, audited annually on site by accredited bodies such as TÜV and DEKRA. In 2026 the standard received state recognition from Germany’s national accreditation body (DAkkS), confirming it meets the international requirements of ISO/IEC 17065 and 17021 for independence, competence and transparency. In short: ZNU sits on the same accreditation footing as the established management-system standards you already trust — independently verified, not self-declared.
Unlike purely environmental labels, ZNU requires measurable progress and yearly audits. KAMAT has been certified since 2025; we will move to the state-recognised 2026 version at our next certification cycle, in about two years. See our targets, measures and progress on the Sustainability page and the full details of our ZNU certification.
Proven in the Field
Many of our installations are business-critical and often confidential, so we don’t publish a public reference list — most customers prefer it that way. Our experience shows instead in decades of continuous operation in sectors such as energy, refining and chemicals, steel, mining, marine and industrial cleaning — across more than 100 countries. If you’d like to know whether we have relevant experience for your application or sector, talk to our engineers — they can share what each situation allows.
Built for Long-Term Value — and Serviceable by Design
The most sustainable machine is the one that stays productive for decades. KAMAT pumps are designed for long service life, high efficiency, repairability and easy maintenance, with standardised components across product families.
Our modular design lets individual components be replaced and whole systems be retrofitted as requirements change — many KAMAT pumps remain in operation for decades, lowering both lifetime cost and the impact of replacement equipment. Long-term spare-parts support and our Service and Maintenance team keep them running. And because high-pressure technology is critical wherever it is installed, our Global Sales Network supports customers in more than 100 countries.
Safety & Compliance
Working with high pressure demands a strong commitment to safety. KAMAT supports customers through application-specific engineering, comprehensive testing, safety-focused system design and decades of expertise — including ATEX-compliant solutions for hazardous environments and pumps built to international standards such as API 674.
As a manufacturer based in the EU, KAMAT designs and builds its machinery to the applicable EU directives and harmonised European standards, meeting the occupational health-and-safety requirements of the European Economic Area (EEA). Customers receive the corresponding documentation — an EU Declaration of Conformity with CE marking for ready-to-use machines, or a Declaration of Incorporation for partly completed machinery. For deployment outside the EEA, we adapt the design to the relevant local requirements.
Safety is not an optional feature. It is an essential part of every solution we deliver.
Supporting the Energy Transition
KAMAT high-pressure technology supports applications across the transformation of global energy systems — from pressure testing for hydrogen storage and infrastructure, to CO₂ transport and injection, geothermal water injection, and alternative fuels such as methanol and e-fuels.
Efficiency matters most where energy is the cost driver: KAMAT plunger pumps reach an overall efficiency (mechanical and volumetric combined) of more than 90 %, so the bulk of the energy you put in goes into useful delivery rather than losses — lower operating cost and a smaller carbon footprint over the life of the system. A Responsible, Family-Owned Partner
KAMAT is a family-owned company in its second generation — not part of a corporate group, and answerable to no outside shareholders. That independence is itself a trust signal: decisions are made for the long term, not the next quarter. Responsibility for us means long-term customer partnerships, fair cooperation, employee development, ethical conduct, sustainable supplier relationships and continuous innovation — the principles set out in our Core Values and Vision.

Frequently Asked Questions
KAMAT is an independent, owner-managed family business (GmbH & Co. KG), now in its second generation. After a management buy-out in 1979 by Karl J. Sprakel, the company passed in 2012 to managing directors Jan G. Sprakel and Dr. Andreas Wahl. It belongs to no corporate group and answers to no outside shareholders — around 110 people work at the Witten site.
Exclusively in Witten-Annen, Germany. Pumps, drive technology, control software and safety systems are developed and built in-house, up to complete containerised units — supported by regional suppliers and locally sourced raw materials.
Quality management is certified to ISO 9001 across development, manufacturing and sales — in place since 1996. For sustainability, KAMAT is the first mechanical-engineering company to be certified to the ZNU Standard (audited by TÜV Rheinland); the ZNU Standard itself received state recognition from Germany's accreditation body, DAkkS, in 2026.
Yes. Around 75 % of our sales are to customers abroad, backed by more than 50 partners worldwide and our membership of the Star Pump Alliance. Support covers the full lifecycle — project consulting, maintenance, training and long-term spare-parts supply.
They are built to run for decades. A modular design, forged stainless-steel pump heads without coatings, and servicing that needs no special lifting gear or tools keep maintenance simple, while long-term spare-parts support keeps older pumps productive.
Our Commitment
For more than five decades, KAMAT has helped customers worldwide solve demanding high-pressure challenges. Our commitment is unchanged: reliable products, certified quality, responsible business practices, sustainable innovation and long-term partnerships.
Because trust is not claimed. It is earned.
