Ostermann Alta Presión S.L., our partner in Spain, is proud of the latest project in the field of ship cleaning, in which Ostermann is involved with the provision of jetting devices. The German non-profit association Sea-Watch, which was founded in Berlin in 2015 to rescue refugees in distress in the Mediterranean Sea, has assigned the Spanish company Falucho Group S.L. in Burriana, near the town of Castellón, to repair one of its rescue ships, the Sea Watch 3. Right now, the company is stripping the ship from paint with ultra-high-pressure water following Water Jetting 2 standards (WJ-2, defined according to NACE 5 / SSPC-SP).
KAMJET and KAMAT hp guns in action for stripping the Sea Watch 3
“I am pleased that Falucho turned to my company for their current project for an NGO to rent a KAMJET 2800/27 with a KAMAT plunger pump K 10016 A1 - 3G from me. The device and other KAMAT accessories are currently being used successfully with 2,500 bar and 18 - 20 l in jetting ", says Carlos Maicas from Ostermann. In the Falucho project, gun work is in progress with the KAMAT KSP 3000 and the PRD 3500 rotary nozzle on the Mediterranean Sea rescue ship Sea Watch 3. The ship is 50 m long and was registered as a yacht in the Netherlands until the end of 2019. Since the beginning of December 2019, the ship has been sailing in the Mediterranean Sea under the German flag and has been carrying out rescue missions for refugees, who are in distress in the Mediterranean Sea. Before that, it was already in use for the NGO Ärzte ohne Grenzen. Now a complete paint stripping has become necessary on the ship. Since Falucho, with its sites on the Mediterranean, is strategically and logistically well located, the shipyard in Burriana was the right choice for Sea-Watch. “The boss of Falucho used to live in Valencia, studied here and therefore knows my company well. Since Falucho has its main location and thus the main warehouse for industrial cleaning equipment in Gran Canaria, it was more practical to find someone on site who can offer the appropriate equipment. This is how I came into play with my company in Valencia and my equipment for industrial high-pressure cleaning. That this is an NGO ship makes me particularly proud”, Maicas reports.
