Performance

When it comes to choosing the right high-pressure pump, the required power is crucial. The ratio between the required pressure and volume is crucial here. Space requirements

Since high-pressure technology is used in many different areas, the space requirements of each application must be considered individually. A crucial question is whether a mobile or stationary unit will meet the requirements at best. In addition, it can be advantageous to choose several smaller pumps instead of one large pump, especially if space is limited. You can choose between horizontal and vertical operating modes to adapt the system to the local conditions.

Pumped medium

The nature of the pumped medium is another important factor in choosing the right high-pressure pump. Different fluids result in specific requirements for the valves, filters, seals and other surfaces in contact with the fluid. Our pumps are made of high-quality alloys and are individually adapted to your application. This means that even fluids with a high solids content, different viscosities or highly reactive fluids are no problem for our pumps.

How does a high-pressure pump work?

KAMAT is a specialist for oscillating displacement pumps. These pumps move liquids through alternating pressure and suction phases. There are two types of oscillating displacement pumps: piston pumps, with a moving seal, and plunger pumps, with a fixed seal. KAMAT is a manufacturer of high-pressure plunger pumps.

A high-pressure plunger pump, is used for pumping liquids under high pressure. The mode of operation is based on the principle of volumetric displacement, in which the liquid flow is generated by alternating pressure and suction phases. Driving the piston increases the pressure in the cylinder, causing the liquid to be expelled through the discharge valve.

The high-pressure pump consists of a drive part (gearbox) and a fluid-carrying part (pump head) in which several plungers (3 or 5) are driven mechanically via a crankshaft. In the intake stroke, the inlet valve opens and the space in front of the plunger fills with the medium. During the pressure stroke, the plunger forces this fluid through the outlet valve into the pressure line of the pump. With each plunger stroke, the same volume is always moved per plunger. The efficiency of the valves largely determines the efficiency of the high-pressure pump.

Most machines that can drive a plunger pump, such as internal combustion engines and electric motors, generate rotary motion. In order to use rotating prime movers, these high-pressure pumps are typically equipped with a drive journal, with a crankshaft, connecting rods and crossheads. As with a car engine, a rotary motion is converted into an oscillating motion, albeit in the opposite direction. Since the prime movers generate higher speeds than are usually required for plunger pumps, gearboxes often have to be used. These are sensibly integrated into the drive section of the pump.

The higher the drive speed, the higher the number of cycles per minute and the greater the flow rate. In principle, a high-pressure pump can increase the water pressure infinitely. The maximum permissible operating pressure of a high-pressure pump is determined by the design and the choice of materials.
