Sustainability with System and Substance
As a long-standing partner to industry for technologically leading high-pressure solutions, KAMAT has taken the next step: we are the first mechanical engineering company in Germany to be certified under the renowned ZNU Standard – driving sustainable change. With this milestone, we send a strong signal—to our customers, our employees and our shared future.
The ZNU Standard – driving sustainable change, developed by the Centre for Sustainable Entrepreneurship (ZNU) at Witten/Herdecke University, evaluates sustainability in a truly holistic way: environmental stewardship, social equity and economic viability all receive equal priority. This approach perfectly aligns with our philosophy: “Made in Germany” engineering excellence, paired with measurable progress in environmental and social responsibility.
What does this mean for our customers?
The ZNU certification proves that KAMAT systematically implements sustainability along the entire value chain, not just promises it. Our customers benefit from this in very concrete ways:
- Reliability and quality: standardised, durable components manufactured with local suppliers for maximum availability and minimal downtime.
- Sustainable high-pressure technology: completely recyclable and durable, with unrivalled energy efficiency.
- Sustainable supply chains: preference for regional suppliers and transparent origin of raw materials, even for special materials such as Inconel or Superduplex.
- Resource efficiency: Use of reusable packaging, active waste management and energy-efficient, continuously optimised production processes.
- Responsible cooperation: Fairness towards employees and business partners is a reality at our company, as evidenced by an active suggestion scheme and a wide range of social benefits.
- Future security: Do your customers face sustainability requirements or ESG criteria? With KAMAT as your certified partner, you can rest assured.
‘Our high-pressure systems help customers worldwide to efficiently and safely process a wide variety of media, from water to polymer solutions. ‘The fact that we are also a leader in sustainability is the result of a long, structured process,’ explains Anika Sprakel, Sustainability Officer at KAMAT. “The ZNU standard provides us with clear guidelines and gives our customers the assurance that they are working with a responsible partner.”
Certification with Substance
The comprehensive certification audit took place in March 2025. Particular praise was given to the following aspects, among others:
- The long-term customer focus of a stable family business;
- The almost exclusive use of regional supplies;
- The sophisticated quality management system; and
- Innovative measures in occupational health and safety.
‘For us, sustainability does not mean perfection, but honest commitment and continuous improvement,’ says Managing Director Jan Sprakel. ‘The ZNU certification is an incentive for us to continue to move forward with technological ambition and social responsibility.’
KAMAT would like to express its thanks to the sustainability team, especially to Dr. Andreas Wahl (Managing Director), Lars Falk (Head of Internal Sales) and Anika Sprakel (Sustainability Manager) for their exceptional efforts and unwavering dedication throughout the certification process.
The certificate can be officially viewed in TÜVRheinland’s Certipedia or on our website as a PDF file.
